I spend a lot of my time watching people. Mostly I do this as part of some user research piece or the other but often it is because I am just nosy and like to see how people go about doing things. I also eavesdrop. Apologies to all but in my defence, I do pick up on the odd interesting tit-bit of information or the occasionaly interesting anecdote.
I was visiting my mother recently and she wanted to show me something on the internet. She is not particularly old and has been using the internet and a PC for many years now (we were online at home in about 94) but she just doesn’t really like using a mouse. She can, but she always looks just a little bit unsure that the pointer is going to go where she wants it to.
So, how does someone who doesn’t want to go to the browser address bar, highlight and remove the existing address then type in another, go to known URLs? Well, you go to the google search box, type in the URL and then hit the I’m feeling lucky button!
I like that.

All very intersting. I didn’t know I was using URLs by hitting the “i’m feeling lucky†button! Never too late to learn.
Where is this “I’m feeling lucky” Button
Just below the search box. 🙂
